How to book an investigation Directly with the Historical Society.
Please book your investigation with the book now button on the screen. Dates are updated as well on the calendar at the bottom of this page. The total booking fee is required up front, booking fees are non-refundable. Please email us at jailinvestigations@gmail.com if you have any questions.
Pricing Information
Sunday-Thursday
4 Hour It is $175 for a group of 4 people, $40 for each additional person. Hours of investigation are 8pm to midnight.
8 Hour It is $250 for a group of 6 people, $40 for each additional person. Hours of investigation are 8pm to 4am.
12 Hour It is $325 for a group of 6 people, $50 per each additional person. Hours of investigation are 8pm to 8am.
Friday & Saturday
4 Hour It is $225 for a group of 4 people, $40 for each additional person. Hours of investigation are 8pm to midnight.
8 Hour It is $300 for a group of 6 people, $40 for each additional person. Hours of invstigation are 8pm to 4am.
12 Hour It is $350 for a group of 6 people, $50 for each additional person. Hours of investigation are 8pm to 8am.
General Booking Information
Rules & Information
Smoking is NOT permitted inside the building. NO Drugs or Alcohol. Anyone found using drugs or alcohol will be immediately escorted from the premises and may face legal action. NO Séances or Ouija boards. Use of Ouija boards or conducting a séance, or trying to contact demonic energies will result in the immediate expulsion from the premises. Absolutely NO "cleansings" on the property – inside or out. Removal, damage or desecration of any Squirrel Cage Jail property will result in immediate expulsion from the premises and possible legal action. A representative of the Historical Society of Pottawattamie County will be on site at all times. No exceptions
What can't I bring?
No Ouija boards, no drugs, no alcohol. NO Cleansings, séances, satanic rituals, etc. A representative from the Historical Society of Pottawattamie County can remove you from the grounds if any of these rules are broken. Is there heat?
Mostly! There is heat on the first and fourth floor. For winter investigations we do recommend wearing layers.
Is there air conditioning?
Again, mostly! The first and fourth floor are air conditioned. If you are investigating during August please bring extra water and wear light clothing.
